About beinstant
A resource on mindfulness, presence and meditation.
Our mission
beinstant was born from a simple observation: we spend 47% of our time thinking about something other than what we are doing. This mind-wandering, documented by Harvard research, is the main source of chronic anxiety and the feeling of an unlived life.
Our mission is to make the practice of presence accessible — not as an esoteric discipline, but as an everyday skill, grounded in the data of neuroscience and contemplative traditions.
Our editorial approach
Every article, practice and definition published on beinstant rests on three sources:
- —Scientific research — Published studies in neuroimaging, cognitive psychology and stress physiology (Harvard, Stanford, UMass Medical School).
- —Contemplative traditions — Theravada Buddhism, Vipassana, MBSR practices developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at UMass in 1979.
- —Reference authors — Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, Viktor Frankl, Tara Brach, Matthieu Ricard, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Christophe André.
