What is presence, really?
Presence is not a mystical state. It's not having no thoughts, feeling bliss or reaching enlightenment.
Presence is simply this: full attention to what is happening now.
That sounds mundane. It's extraordinarily rare. Harvard research shows that the average human mind wanders 47% of the time, not present with what it's doing. That's nearly half your life spent elsewhere.
Tolle describes presence as "conscious attention here and now, undisturbed by thoughts of the past or the future." It doesn't require stillness. You can be fully present while walking, working, cooking or talking.
The question is simply: are you here?
